Hacienda Juan Viñas started planting macadamia trees in 1990 in one of Costa Rica’s best regions for growing these specialty nuts. In 1996, the company and five local growers established a macadamia processing company, called SolCaribe S.A.

Sol Caribe currently exports macadamia in a variety of forms, including wholes, halves and pieces, to the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The nuts are carefully shipped in 25 lb. carton boxes, N nitrogen-flushed and vacuum packed in aluminum foil bags.Local consumer based sales are made under the Juan Viñas brand in the following flavors: salted, chocolate covered, brittle, and sugar glazed macadamias.
